Basic Beat Egg Shaker Recall: West Music Recalls 6,500 Toys Due To Choking Hazards

Toy Instruments Recalled Due To Choking Hazards

West Music has issued a voluntary safety recall of about 6,500 Basic Beat Egg Shaker toy instruments.

The Basic Beat Egg Shakers are being recalled by West Music because "the outer 'end cap' that is glued onto the top, smallest part of the egg can come off, posing a small part choking or aspiration hazard," according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The company has received three complaints of these small pieces coming off, but no children have been injured.

The toy instruments, made for children ages 3 and older, were sold at West Music stores and booths, through the West Music Catalog and on Westmusic.com and Amazon.com from July 2012 through October 2012. The recalled model number is "Lot Number 0E0212" and it is printed on the bottom of the egg.

The CPSC recommends stopping the use of the toys immediately and contacting West Music to receive a free replacement.
