Reese Witherspoon Style Evolution: 'Blonde' Goes Best With A Smile (PHOTOS)

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was nicknamed "Little Miss Type A" in her early years. An enthusiastic reader who started modeling at seven in her Tennessee hometown, Witherspoon transitioned to acting in 1991's "The Man in the Moon" at the tender age of 15. From there, she continued to wholesome roles in films like "Pleasantville" and cemented a place on Hollywood's map as Matthew Broderick's driven, shrill student in "Election."

Witherspoon's star exploded in 2001, when her perky turn in "Legally Blonde" elevated Elle Woods from an entitled sorority girl to a driven Harvard Law School student. Next came "Sweet Home Alabama," a romantic romp about a small-town southern girl whose priorities shift after moving to the big city -- a plot to which Witherspoon could certainly relate. In 2005, playing June Carter Cash opposite Joaquin Phoenix's Johnny in "Walk the Line" earned Witherspoon Academy acclaim.

The rare actress who can convey equal parts charm and humanity, Witherspoon has become a romantic comedy legend who, despite settling down in Ojai, California, still challenges herself with dramatic roles. And let's not forget to give her credit for an attractive slew of beaus (Wahlberg and Phillippe and Gyllenhaal -- oh, my!), a year spent studying at Stanford and three adorable children.

To celebrate Reese's 37th birthday, we looked back at her finest fashion moments since her '90s debut. Unafraid of bold florals and saturated colors (the stuff most stars would shy away from), Witherspoon's look has shifted from blonde to brunette and back again, always featuring of-the-moment red carpet trends. And she rarely fails to accessorize with that $15 million smile.
