Southern Miss Buzzer Beater: Neil Watson Forced OT vs. Memphis, Worried Bubble Teams (VIDEO)

WATCH: Buzzer Beater Worries NCAA Bubble Teams

Neil Watson and Southern Miss gave every team on the NCAA Tournament bubble quite a scare on Saturday afternoon.

Southern Miss erased a six-point Memphis lead in the final 31 seconds of the championship game in the Conference USA Tournament. The final basket of the game-tying surge came in the form of a dramatic buzzer beater by Watson. After Memphis' Joe Jackson missed a free throw that would have made it a three-point game, Jonathan Mills grabbed the rebound for the Golden Eagles. His long outlet pass flew over four Memphis players (playing quite high up the floor) and found Watson streaking up the court. His driving layup left his hand just an instant before the buzzer sounded.

To the relief of those bubble teams across the country, No. 20 Memphis regained control of the game in the second overtime. The Tigers pulled away and went on to win 91-79 in double overtime. Had Southern Miss pulled off the upset win then C-USA would be locked in as a two-bid conference, potentially nabbing a bid from another hopeful.

Southern Miss will now need to sweat it out on Selection Sunday as the teams are revealed.
