Enrique Pena Nieto, Mexican President, Accused Of Falling Asleep During Hugo Chavez Funeral (VIDEOS)

WATCH: Peña Nieto Falls Asleep During Chávez's Funeral?

It’s been a grueling week for Venezuela after the death of President Hugo Chávez was announced on Tuesday, and it seems Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto was the first to give into the fatigue during the Chávez’s funeral on Friday.

In a video released through Anonymous Iberoamérica’s twitter account, the Mexican leader is seen with with his head down and eyes closed as the ceremony is taking place. The group, a Hispanic counterpart to the Anonymous hacktivist group, made clear in their first tweet that they believed Peña Nieto had fallen asleep during the event.

“Peña Nieto, savage without education: sleeping during Hugo Chávez’s funeral,” read the group’s first tweet.

The video caused the hashtag #MeDuermoComoEPN (#IFallAsleepLikeEPN) to start trending in Mexico and had many users in an uproar about the leader’s alleged behavior.

#MeDuermoComoEPN eres una verdadera vergüenza para los Mexicanos @epn ya renuncia presidente impuesto, NADIE TE QUIERE, ENTIENDE

“You’re an embarrassment for Mexicans @EPN just resign already you self-imposed President, NO ONE WANTS YOU.”

“That Peña Nieto, he’s going to make us die of hunger, if he doesn’t make us die of embarrassment first.”

Still, a second and longer video by the leftist opinion blog Blogdeizquierda.com shows Peña Nieto waking up during applause.

The Mexican government and the leader have yet to respond concerning the cyber claims and video.
