A five-year-old girl watched as her mother and two other people were shot in a home on Detroit's west side, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Police found two women and one man dead as well as two unharmed children Thursday morning.

The two women were related, according to WDIV. The five-year-old and a baby girl were both inside the house at the time the bodies were discovered

According to a statement released by the Detroit Police Department, the victims appeared to be in their early 20s. All three appeared to have received gunshot wounds.

Neighbors reported hearing shots fired to authorities Wednesday night. But police said in a statement that the caller gave the wrong address to the 911 dispatcher. The cops showed up to a house located several blocks away and found nothing.

Thursday morning around 9:30 a.m., police responded to another call stating that the bodies had been found, and located the correct address, on the 11300 block of Coyle.

A neighbor told WXYZ that the home was abandoned and the women and their children were squatting inside the home.

Detroit recorded 32 homicides in the first 34 days of 2013. The city had its highest murder rate in almost 20 years in 2012, with 386 criminal homicides and 25 murders that were ruled justifiable.

UPDATE: Friday, March 8, 10:00 a.m. -- According to the Detroit Free Press, police arrested a suspect in connection with the three deaths.
