Darrelle Revis might soon be departing the Big Apple, according to reports from the New York Daily News and ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Citing an unnamed source, Manish Metha of the Daily News reported on Wednesday that "it appears to be only a matter of time" before the Jets ship their star cornerback elsewhere. Metha named the 49ers and Falcons as "legitimate buyers" in a potential deal to move the four-time Pro Bowl corner. Similarly, Mortensen reported that the Jets are "determined to trade Darrelle Revis," but counted San Francisco out as a possible suitor.

After the reigning NFC champs agreed to trade quarterback Alex Smith to Kansas City in exchange for draft picks, Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported that they would pursue Revis "even if it’s just for one season," citing two sources.

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff downplayed the rumors involving his club to ESPN's Ed Werder.

Discussing the rumors in an interview conducted by Seattle Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson, Revis said the rampant speculation "definitely hit home."

"Especially being one of the best players out there and come to find out you're getting shopped. Yeah, I mean, it really hits home," Revis told Robinson earlier this week. "But it really doesn't matter where I'll be. I know what I can do. I'm confident in what I do and that's why I'm here at Brett Fisher's working out now."

Just two weeks ago, Jets coach Rex Ryan and new general manager John Idzik said they plan on keeping Revis.

"With respect to clarity, I don't know that anything has really changed because we really have always wanted Darrelle to be a part of our team. That has not changed," Idzik said in February at the NFL Combine, via the Associated Press.
