Belinda, 23-year-old Mexican pop star, is due to release her fourth album “Catarsis.” Her video for her new single “En la Obscuridad” has reached over 2.7 millions hits in less than a week, reaching one million hits in just two days. She has been nominated three times at the Latin Grammy Awards and has been referred to as “The Mexican Princess of Pop” by Billboard.

Mexico’s pop diva Belinda gets creative

In the past few years the pop princess has gone through some pretty tough times with the paparazzi and gossip of her potentially getting plastic surgery. She also went through a break-up with Giovani Dos Santos, the Mexican soccer player which was publicized all around. In spite of all this, the 23-year-old has been able to step it up and get creative coming out with an album that’s stirring up a lot of positive talk.

Her newest video for single, “En la Obscuridad” (In the Dark), has gained the attention of more than four million viewers, doing incredibly well with 2.7 million hits in its first week. Her recent single is a very catchy electro-pop record that will surely put Belinda on the charts. The video shows her and a love interest dancing the night away, being carefree and, in relation to the lyrics, enjoying every moment before it passes them by.

“It’s sweet, super danceable and insanely addictive. Even if you don’t understand what she is saying, I’m positive you’ll find yourself enjoying it,” stated entertainment blog Jon Ali.

There have been many musicians who have started off in the Latino world and have successfully crossed over to where a variety of people can enjoy their tunes. Maybe this could be Belinda’s way to cross over into the American music industry, attracting not only her loyal Latino fans but her American fans with Latino backgrounds. This could be Belinda’s time.
