Women's History Month Photos: Iconic Images That Celebrate Female Achievement

LOOK: Iconic Images In Celebration Of Women's History Month

March isn't just a month of odd weather and St. Patty's Day celebrations -- it's also (more importantly) Women's History Month. The National Women's History Project (NWHP) was formed in 1980 with the goal of celebrating women's contributions to U.S. history and has been recognized every year since.

In celebration of American women's historical achievements, HuffPost Women will feature one iconic image (or an image we think should become iconic) for each day in March of a person or an event that made the world better for women -- and better in general.

We'll collect these photos in the slideshow below. Keep checking back throughout the month and let us know in the comments if there is any notable woman or momentous occasion for women that you want to see included.
