Woman Allegedly Bit Off Part Of Boyfriend's Tongue During Valentine's Quarrel

A Skokie, Ill. woman has been arrested after allegedly biting off a large chunk of her boyfriend's tongue during a domestic spat on Valentine's Day.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Elaine Cook, 51, and her boyfriend had gone out for a Valentine's date and upon their return to Cook's apartment, the two got into an argument.

When Cook asked her beau of 10 months to leave her home, he attempted to kiss her -- at which point, prosecutors allege, she bit off part of his tongue.

The man placed the severed tongue chunk in a bag of ice and called 911, the Chicago Tribune reports. He was then rushed to the Evanston Hospital, where doctors were unable to reattach the chunk. He told the paper he has been having trouble sleeping and has several sutures in his mouth.

Cook has been charged with aggravated domestic battery and was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail on Sunday.
