Oprah's OWN Network Sued For Sex Discrimination

SUED

Oprah's cable television network, OWN, has been sued by a former employee.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, former employee Carolyn Hommel sued OWN, claiming she was a victim of sex and pregnancy discrimination. Hommel was allegedly hired in 2010 as a senior director of scheduling and acquisitions, but had to take medical leave when she was pregnant. She was replaced by a temporary employee and then fired a month after she gave birth. She sued OWN, which has a partnership with The Huffington Post, for an undisclosed amount.

The Hollywood Reporter obtained a copy of the lawsuit, which can be read here.

This is not the first time Oprah has been sued. The talk show queen has been involved in lawsuits brought about by people ranging from former employees to beef producers who claimed she cost them $12 million after a show on mad cow disease.
