Obama's Stonewall Mention During Inaugural Speech Slammed By American Family Association's Buster Wilson

Anti-Gay Pundit Makes Major Historical Gaffe In New Obama Rant

The American Family Association's Buster Wilson has joined the chorus of conservative voices angered by President Barack Obama's inaugural references to gay rights.

"The president, in his inauguration speech, is not just talking about gays and lesbians, but he is referencing the thing that we need to build the future on -- the past," Wilson proclaims.

Wilson's rant, which was picked up by Right Wing Watch as well as a number of other media outlets, has its own unintentional humor. He refers to the 1969 Stonewall riots -- which have long been considered a historical benchmark for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights movement -- as "a hotel full of homosexuals...that turned violent against a police raid."

New York's Stonewall Inn is, of course, a gay bar and not a hotel.
