'SNL' Starbucks Spoof Skewers Annoying Barista Behavior (VIDEO)

WATCH: SNL's Controversial Starbucks Spoof

"Saturday Night Live" got a lot of laughs -- and incited some controversy -- with a Starbucks spoof that aired this past weekend. The sketch takes aim at the company's at-home coffee machine, Verismo, by poking fun at some annoying (and let's be honest, sometimes accurate) barista behavior.

Here's the gist of it: the Verismo machine on "SNL" allows you to experience every aspect of Starbucks' coffee at home, and that's not always a good thing. Like, for instance, getting your name spelled horribly wrong on the cup, or getting abuse from the barista.

Some people weren't amused. Several blogs, including Gothamist, thought the sketch was racist:

We have no experience writing comedy, but it seems that executing this skit without the racist machine voices would be easy enough. ... this isn't a thought-provoking riff on the absurdity of racist language, or a heart-breakingly sharp observation about racism in America, or complicated art that is worth strenuous debate. It's just lazy.

What do you think?
