Michelle Obama's Inauguration Look Has Us Wanting A Swing Coat (PHOTOS)

Michelle Obama Has Us Wanting A Swing Coat

Michelle Obama stunned at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration in a navy blue patterned Thom Browne coat, cinched at the waist with a jeweled J. Crew belt. First daughters Sasha and Malia Obama were just as elegant as their mama, clad in berry-hued swing coats from Kate Spade and J. Crew. They had a difficult task at hand: Looking great in the freezing cold. We'd say they were successful. All three Obama ladies stood out in the crowd in colorful toppers that were polished and warm at the same time.

The secret to the first family's sartorial success on this important day was all in the outerwear. Their swing coats mimicked the look of a dress with nipped waists and flouncy hems that managed to be functional, as well as fashionable. The best part of the dressy coats is that they could have worn long underwear underneath, and we would have been none the wiser.

Here, seven swing coats to get you through the winter in style. And take a page from Michelle Obama and add a fun belt to your topper. Sequined or not, it enhances your hourglass shape and adds a fun detail to your outfit.
