The nominees for the 85th annual Academy Awards were announced Thursday morning and the Best Animated Feature Film category has some of the year's favorites.

The movies vying for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature are "Brave," "Wreck-It Ralph," "Frankenweenie," "ParaNorman," and "The Pirates! Band of Misfits."

Introduced in 2001, Best Animated Feature is the newest category at the Academy Awards. The first award for Best Animated Feature was given to "Shrek," which beat out "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" and "Monsters, Inc." At last year's 84th annual Academy Awards, "Up" competed with "Coraline," "Fantastic Mr. Fox," "The Princess and the Frog," and "The Secret of Kells," and won the award.

Emma Stone and Seth MacFarlane made the announcement on Thursday. MacFarlane is also hosting the 2013 Academy Awards on Feb. 24. The awards show will be held at Los Angeles' Dolby Theater.
