WASHINGTON -- Metro Transit Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a group of persons of interest wanted for questioning in connection to a stabbing incident aboard a Metrobus on New Year's Day.
A security camera onboard the Congress Heights-bound No. 93 bus captured images of the persons of interest.
According to a Metro press release:
At approximately 2:20 a.m., Tuesday, January 1, MTPD officers responded to Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. and W Street SE for a report of an altercation aboard a 93-route Metrobus to Congress Heights Station. Upon arrival, officers found one adult female victim with stab wounds and a second adult female with blunt force injuries to her head and back. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The assailants are believed to have fled northbound on MLK Ave.
Metro Transit Police detectives believe the men boarded the bus in the area of 18th and Columbia Road NW in Adams Morgan around 1:15 a.m. Once the bus arrived at 8th and G streets SE, two female passengers became involved in a verbal argument with one of the suspects. The argument escalated into a physical altercation between the suspects and the two female passengers.
