Britney Spears Fired From 'The X Factor'? Singer Reportedly Getting Boot

Getting Axed?

Britney Spears will be fired from "The X Factor" after only one season on the show, according to "Us Weekly." The report suggests producers aren't happy with Spears' performance during Season 2 of the Fox singing competition.

Spears joined Season 2 of "The X Factor," drawing a hefty paycheck of about $15 million. She and Demi Lovato replaced Season 1 judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.

"They paid all that for her to say 'amazing' and offer half-claps," a source told "Us Weekly."

Spears became known for her one-sentence critiques and faces she made on the series, so much so that the series complied a montage for the Season 2 finale.

In November, Spears told members of the press she'd be back for Season 3. "Yes, I definitely will," she said at the time.

"The X Factor" judge L.A. Reid will not return for Season 3, and Simon Cowell has not made any official announcements about next season's judging panel.

Fox had no comment on the matter. A spokesperson for "The X Factor" told HuffPost TV the reports are merely speculation. "No one has discussed next years judging panel yet - any reports otherwise are complete speculation," the spokesperson said in an email statement.
