Dartmouth Students' Greenland Research Highlighted In 'Science: It's A Girl Thing' Parody (VIDEO)

A new video from a group of Dartmouth College graduate students shows what work is really like for female scientists. "Science in Greenland: It’s a Girl Thing," parodies a similarly-titled video from the European Commission which promotes women in STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Dartmouth Now notes the European Commission video was "well-intentioned," but promotes some gender stereotypes.

Dartmouth President Carol L. Folt told Dartmouth Now the new video, which was produced by students in the school's Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) program in polar environmental change working in Greenland, "is lots of fun." She said, “It focuses on the talent and commitment of Dartmouth’s scientists, and communicates a passion for scientific research to girls and young women who are considering a career in science.”
