Chris Hitchens, In Person!

Tonight, my wife, my daughter and a good friend invested two hours to listen to Mr. Hitchens and Mickey Kaus speak. It was great entertainment and I highly recommend investing the two hours and twenty bucks if they come to your town.

The only problem was that there was no counterbalance to Mr. Hitchens' carefully crafted opinions. This allowed them to hang in the air as if they were facts. Obviously, this is true part of the time but far from true much of the time.

Mr. Hitchens' support for the war in Iraq is well-known and not solidly supported by the facts: We have placed tens of thousands of our young men and women in harm's way in an effort to stop a civil war among factions which have hated each other for centuries and will continue to hate each other long after we've left the arena.
