Judging by completion percentage, there have been 31 quarterbacks in the NFL better than Mark Sanchez during the 2012 season. Based on interception percentage, there have been 32 more reliable quarterbacks. Total passing touchdowns indicates that 24 QBs have been more effective this year. Using the comprehensive Total QBR to rank signal callers, there are apparently 35 better options than the one that the New York Jets have been depending on through 15 weeks.

According to Twitter, there is a seemingly endless supply of #QBsBetterThanSanchez.

One day after yet another ineffectual, slapstick outing by Sanchez, Jets coach Rex Ryan announced that Greg McElroy would be starting at quarterback in Week 16 vs. the San Diego Chargers. As news of the demotion got out, the #QBsBetterThanSanchez began trending. The hashtag seemed to have begun gaining steam during Sanchez' woeful 5-turnover debacle in the Jets' 14-10 loss to the Titans on Monday Night Football but was still going strong on Tuesday afternoon.

Oft-repeated suggestions included Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite, the kid who co-stars in those NFL Play 60 commercials with Cam Newton and the Jets fan who went to the trouble of making himself a "Buttfumble" jersey.

Much to the chagrin of Tebow boosters, Ryan may not think that No. 15 belongs on that long, undistinguished list.

Here are some of the best (and worst) quarterbacks that Twitter thinks deserve to take a snap for the Jets before Sanchez gets another chance.
