Theater insiders are buzzing that Scarlett Johansson could rake in as much as $100,000 a week on Broadway playing Maggie in "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof," if the show is as successful as many predict.
"Scarlett is getting a weekly guarantee, plus a percentage of the box office," one theater insider tells The Huffington Post. "This sort of deal is usually only given to people like Al Pacino [who is reported to be earning more than $125,000 per week]. This is only Scarlett's second Broadway play and she's already being treated -- at least financially -- like a Great White Way legend."
Many celebrities have played Broadway, most recently Katie Holmes, who is currently staring in a 16-week run of "Dead Accounts," which one insider has suggested might close early, considering it played to only 59.1 percent capacity last week.
"The advance for Scarlett's play is huge," one producer revealed. "She won the Tony Award in 2010 in Arthur Miller's play and it was impossible to get a ticket. This time everyone bought in advance."
Philip Boroff at Bloomberg reports Scarlett is guaranteed a minimum of $40,000 a week, while the base for other Broadway actors is $1,754.
Scarlett's rep did not return our calls for comment.
