It may be "the most wonderful time of the year" but it certainly takes its toll on the wallet.

(Warning: the following text gets kind of Grinch-y)

After spending money on holiday dinners, gift shopping, staying warm and actively trying to stay pleasant --procrastinating shoppers are almost definitely chanting "I MUST find a way to keep Christmas from coming!"

Luckily in Denver however, there are plenty of ways to get into the holiday spirit for free. There's ice skating at Skyline Park, luminarias decking the sidewalks of Sante Fe's art district, a community menorah lighting, Santa Claus and window displays on Larimer Street.

It may not help your shopping list, but then again holiday cheer can't be bought.
