Debra Messing's 'Smash' Scarves Take A Back Seat

Say Goodbye To ...

One of the biggest changes to "Smash" Season 2 will be Debra Messing's wardrobe. Yes, the time has come to say goodbye to those scarves and giant sweaters.

"Coming into a show second season where there was so much discussion about positives and negatives about the first season gives you that rare chance to step back and go, ‘What can I change?’ So we were able to [revisit] things like the scarves. We address it head on," new "Smash" showrunner Josh Safran told EW.

However, not all the scarves are gone. Series star Katharine McPhee was spotted filming with a scarf around her neck and the neck accessories appear in the Season 2 teaser.

Doing away with chunky sweaters and scarves isn't the only change ahead for "Smash." Season 2 will see a new musical take shape, a heap of new characters including one played by Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson. Actors Jaime Cepero, Raza Jaffrey, Brian d'Arcy James and Will Chase will not be back for Season 2, but there are plenty new additions: Jeremy Jordan, Krysta Rodriguez and Andy Mientus, with Sean Hayes, Liza Minnelli and Bernadette Peters and Jesse L. Martin on board as guest stars.

"Smash" Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, February 5 with a two-hour episode at 9 p.m. EST before moving to its regular 10 p.m. EST timeslot.
