WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) joined a group of lawmakers on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday night to turn on the lights of the Capitol Christmas tree.

Many members of the Colorado delegation were on hand as well. As The Hill reports, the 73-foot tree from the White River National Forest in Colorado was driven to the nation's capital by former Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) after a 23-day trip.

Ryan Shuster, a high school student from Colorado Springs, helped Boehner flip the switch.

The tree lights will be on nightly until Dec. 26.
