Teran Hagerich: I Survived A Fire And Am Back On Track (VIDEO)

WATCH: How Therapy Helped Me Heal From A Fire

Stay-at-home mom Teran Hagerich shared her story of surviving an explosion in chemistry class, which burned her significantly, with HuffPost Live host Janet Varney on Monday. Hagerich's recovery was long and painful.

"I was in the hospital for maybe 4 weeks - I don't really remember," she said.

At first, getting back to her daily life was difficult.

"There was a before and after Teran," she said. "People didn't know what to say, and I didn't know what to say to them."

Today, she credits her recovery in part to therapy, telling other people going through something like this to see a therapist.

"It really did help talking to someone that wasn't on a side or didn't have any personal stake in it that I could just talk to and I wouldn't hear 'Oh I'm so sorry, what can I do to help?', I could just talk," she said. "I think that really does make a big difference in the healing process."
