Derrick Rose Return? Bulls' NBA MVP Rumored To Be 'Weeks Away' From Return To Practice

Sidelined Bulls guard Derrick Rose may be closer to making his return to the court earlier than many fans have anticipated.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, an unnamed NBA source has said Rose could be "just weeks away" from a return to practicing with his team. He could be back in uniform early next year.

Rose, 24, tore the ACL on his left knee during a playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers on April 28 and had surgery on May 12. Dr. Brian Cole, who performed the surgery on Rose, said the guard would likely be out between 8 and 12 months.

Now, less than seven months later, the NBA MVP was spotted sprinting in spurts after Bulls practice on Monday afternoon and Adidas last week premiered the final episode of its "The Return" documentary, which centers on the basketball star's rehabilitation efforts.

"Every week, I'm moving onto something new. My core has gotten a lot stronger," Rose said in the most recent episode (embedded above).

The Rose-less Bulls have had an uneven start to the season but have managed to climb back to the top of the Central Division standings.
