George Zimmerman Autograph: Is The Former Neighborhood Watchman Selling His Signature?

Zimmerman Selling His Autograph To Pay Legal Fees?

As the trial date for the Trayvon Martin shooting approaches and his legal defense funds deplete, George Zimmerman has focused on amping up his fundraising efforts and is attracting national attention once again.

On Wednesday, the Associated Press reported that Zimmerman planned to launch the New George Zimmerman Defense Fund next month, adding that donors would receive "thank you" cards signed by the former neighborhood watch leader.

But recent reports have called attention to the fact that Zimmerman is essentially selling his autograph.

According to his new website GZDefenseFund.com, Zimmerman's aim is to send a statement to his supporters through the personally signed notes. The statement on the site says the new fundraising efforts are in an attempt to bolster the original George Zimmerman Defense Fund, which has raised just over $140,000 but is currently at its lowest balance.

Zimmerman is awaiting his trial date on June 10, 2013 after being charged with second-degree murder for shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. He has claimed self-defense and is pleading not guilty.
