'Decadence Staircase' Dish Costs $1200, Contains Caviar, Lobster Wagyu Beef And More

Restaurant Offers Dish For $1,200

Earlier this week, we brought you the news that someone had actually purchased the $26,000 truffle dinner that a Philadelphia restaurant was offering, and now we find out about yet another extremely expensive food stunt. Katsu restaurant in Los Gatos, Calif. is offering a dish for $1,200.

The item has all the ridiculously expensive ingredients you'd expect: four kinds of caviar, spiny lobster, wagyu beef and 24 karat gold leaves (natch). Should you feel a little strapped for cash, Katsu also offers a $200 six ounce Wagyu strip steak and Wagyu beef three ways for $400 [pdf] (a steal!).

Twelve hundred dollars pales in comparison to the $5,000 FleurBurger with foie gras and truffles, though. And then there are all those $1,000 offerings available from various restaurants such as the Serendipity Opulence Sundae and Norma's $1,000 omelette.

Just for the heck of it, here's a short list of some other food-related items you can get for $1,200 or less:
