30 Days Of LGBT Holiday Giving: Donate To PFLAG

Note: This holiday season, in lieu of a traditional holiday gift guide, we'll be featuring a different LGBT organization each day for our "30 Days Of LGBT Giving." Check back tomorrow for a look at another incredible group that's working tirelessly on behalf of the LGBT community.

PFLAG National has been around since 1972 as the original ally organization, working for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people through its support, affirming LGBT folks that they are loved; its education, teaching those who may be ill-informed about LGBT people and issues; and its advocacy, fighting for equal rights under the law.

What began simply as a mother supporting her gay son in New York City, PFLAG now celebrates its 40th anniversary year, and has grown into a national network of over 200,000 members and supporters with 350 chapters all across the U.S. in both small rural places to large metropolitan areas.

PFLAG has a headquarters in Washington D.C. and provides numerous services at both a national and local level, including support groups for both LGBT people and their allies, scholarships and special events all year round.
