Omer Asik Scores On Own Basket In Rockets-Raptors Game (VIDEO)

OOPS: Rockets Center Helps Out Other Team

Omer Asik may have arrived in Houston with less fanfare than James Harden or Jeremy Lin, but the 26-year-old center is already looking like a savvy acquisition by Rockets general manager Daryl Morey. Through 14 games, Asik is averaging a double double and ranks third in the league in rebounds per game.

This was not one of his finer moments.

Late in the second quarter of Tuesday night's game against Toronto, it looked like Asik would easily grab a defensive rebound after boxing out Jonas Valanciunas. But the Turkish 26-year-old accidentally tipped it back into the air and into the opposing basket. Two points for Toronto. The bucket cut Houston's lead to seven.

It didn't matter in the end though. In the final seconds of the half, he quickly made up for it by throwing down a two-handed dunk on his team's ensuing possession. Despite this gaffe, Asik had one of his best games of the season on Tuesday, scoring 13 point (not counting his two for Toronto) and grabbing 18 rebounds (one shy of his career-high).
