FBI Raids Detroit Library System

FBI Raids Library Main Branch

FBI agents raided the main branch of the Detroit Public Library on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

According to the Detroit News, agents arrived at the Midtown Detroit site on Woodward Avenue at 8 a.m. to look at financial records and execute search warrants.

The paper reports Chief Administrative Officer Tim Cromer's office was a focus of the raid.

Detroit Public Library's management has been called into question repeatedly. The library closed two branches late last year after a huge budget shortfall and laid off 20 percent of its staff. Earlier in 2011, the main branch underwent a $2.3 million renovation project.
The board of library commissioners is expected to meet at 1:30 p.m.
