Weekend violence has left four dead and 22 hurt, upping the city's murder toll that, in October, already surpassed the total count from 2011.

On Sunday, 16-year-old Emilio Palomo was shot in the chest and killed in an apparent drive-by just after 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. Palomo's friends denied the teen had gang ties, though police believe otherwise.

Earlier that morning, an unidentified man was shot in the back by a gunman inside a minivan, also near Back of the Yards. The Sun-Times reports police said the victim was a known gang member.

The weekend's two other fatalities happened early Saturday morning, according to Fox Chicago. Before dawn, a man was shot in the face and killed in South Lawndale, and another man was killed a short while after by a gunman in a vehicle in Marquette Park.

Other non-fatal incidents were reported from around the city, including the shooting of two women, perhaps bystanders according to police, in Chicago Lawn, and two people shot on the Near West Side near Greektown, according to Fox.

On Sunday, HuffPost Chicago reported on the pair of stabbings in the Gold Coast Saturday evening.
