It's time for Virginia to vote.

Here's what you need to know about Virginia on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.

The Virginia polls closing time is 7 p.m. local time. That's earlier than several other states so keep that in mind if you're voting in Virginia.

The Virginia polls opening time is 6 a.m. local time, also earlier than most states, so Virginians will have an opportunity to cast their ballots early in the morning.

Some have voted already in the state thanks to early voting. There are some indications that Mitt Romney may have an edge in early voting there.

Not sure where to vote? The state of Virginia has set up a polling place finder.

The winner of Virginia collects 13 electoral votes in the presidential race. Barack Obama won in 2008, but that's the only time the Democratic presidential candidate has won the state since 1972. See our election map here.
