Weekender -- A Vampire Circus, Aerobic Butter and an Exclusive Discount (PHOTOS)

This is THE weekend we've all been waiting for, the one in which it's considered socially acceptable to dress up like idiots and parade around getting tipsy on pumpkin-flavored beer. In other words, it's like every other weekend, but with costumes.

This is THE weekend we've all been waiting for, the one in which it's considered socially acceptable to dress up like idiots and parade around getting high on sugar and tipsy on pumpkin-flavored beer. In other words, it's like every other weekend, but with costumes.

Friday

Say that, for whatever reason, you hypothetically didn't consult our handy and clever Halloween costume guide. Well then, we hope that you step in a giant muddy puddle. We kid! But we do hope that you get yourself to South Pasadena for a complimentary sewing class at Common Thread. You'll need those skills to whip up a last-minute costume that will have chance at rivalling ours.

After, take your discounted (or free) tickets downtown to Blumhouse of Horrors for a good scare. Later, head into Mid-City for a snack at C+M café at LACMA followed by a special gin drink at Ray's and Stark Bar. Then, get to the El Rey to see Matthew Dear perform with a live band (can you believe it, in this day and age?!). Then, we suggest some Tylenol PM and a good night's sleep -- tomorrow is a doozy.

Saturday

Start off by clearing out your internal cobwebs with a few spa treatments at the LA Women's Expo. When you purchase tickets through Panana, you can gain access to a Bloomingdales Beauty Lounge, OPI nail bar, treatments by L'Occitane, and a Brow & Braid Bar, among other perks -- all for 50 percent off the entry price. After, head into West Hollywood for a launch party for the new lunchbox service at Plaisir (8613 Santa Monica Blvd). Sample their delicious gourmet sandwiches and macarons, decorate a pumpkin or two, and, mostly importantly, grab a box for dinner later tonight. If macarons aren't your thing (or if you have an insatiable need for cookies), swing by ForYourArt's art book talks and free cookie event.

Then, head to Hollywood Forever for their full-on celebration of Dia de los Muertos, complete with Aztec ritual dancers, artist-created altars, and musical performances. At this point, horror movie diehards should pack it up and head to Santa Monica. The Aero is hosting their 7th annual Dusk-to-Dawn Horrorthon, which screens movies -- you guessed it -- all night long. Coffee is being provided by Peets and energy drinks by Monster (get it?).

Those more sane (or sleepy) among us should bundle up and head to Barnsdall Art Park for their last outdoor movie of the year: The House on Haunted Hill. Then, get ready to hit some haunted hotels. The W in Hollywood has three levels and just as many musical genres to dance to, while the Mondrian's Vampire Circus promises to be an all-night costume party (and has no cover charge). Diehard partiers may want to splurge on a Halloween Club Crawl pass -- it's $100, but grants access to four different parties. You go, girl!

Sunday

We have a pretty good feeling you'll want to sleep in on Sunday (that's where you'll find us), so go right ahead. Then, get over to Echo Park for Aerobic Butter and Anaerobic Bread, a bread- and butter-making workshop by artist Michael O'Malley and Pop Soda's Jimmy Fusil.

After, get back on the Halloween bandwagon by going to a matinée at The Egyptian, where they're screening Nosferatu, and maybe bring the closest teenager with you to teach them a lesson or two (we feel like they've got this whole vampire thing wrong!). Later, head back to Echo Park for a local, seasonal dinner at Cortez, a new restaurant from the same folks who brought us the beloved neighborhood grocery Cookbook.

Get some rest Sunday night. It's not even actually Halloween yet (seriously?!), so you've got a big week of haunting around ahead of you.
