Apple made a surprise announcement at its event today.

Along with its iPad Mini, which was widely expected to be announced, it unveiled a 4th generation iPad.

According to Engadget, the 4th generation iPad "packs a new A6X processor, dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, a 720p Facetime camera round front and the new image processor found in the iPhone 5."

Its predecessor the "New iPad" was just released in March, so perhaps this one should be called the "New, New iPad"?

It is priced at $499 for the 16 GB WiFi version, $170 higher than the 16 GB WiFi iPad Mini that was announced today.

You can preorder the 4th generation iPad on Oct. 26; WiFi-only versions begin shipping Nov. 2, NBC News reports.
