'30 Rock': Sally Field Is Liz Lemon?

Liz Lemon Is Sally Field?

"30 Rock" is known for its quick jokes, most of them ongoing, so it should be no surprise to learn that the NBC series has a long-running Sally Field joke.

Liz Lemon=Sally Field first started in the Season 2 episode, "Subway Hero." In the episode, Liz (Tina Fey) goes to dinner with Dennis Duffy (Dean Winters), her ex-boyfriend and media darling for saving somebody from being hit by the subway. The two are featured in a newspaper with the caption: "Subway hero Dennis Duffy and actress Sally Field."

The joke resurfaced in the Season 6 premiere, "Dance Like Nobody's Watching." After Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) spots Liz near Penn Station completing what looks like a drug deal, he goes to Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) with his suspicions. Unconvinced, Jack asks Tracy, "Are you sure it was Liz Lemon and not present day Sally Field?"

The most recent joke -- and perhaps last since Season 7 is the final season of "30 Rock" -- came from Jenna (Jane Krakowski). In "Governor Dunston," Jenna starts hurling insults at the "TGS" writing staff after she assumes the royalties for her summer hit song, "Balls," will make her rich. "And maybe you ought to look in the mirror before leaving your house in the morning, because you look like someone's been slowly poisoning Sally Field."

UPDATE: According to Field's personal publicist, the actress isn't aware of the running "30 Rock" joke, but said "she wishes she was as funny as Tina and takes it as a compliment … because she’s got a few years on Tina."

What do you think? Does Liz Lemon look like a modern day Sally Field? A poisoned Sally Field?
