Washington State University Student Student Falls 11 Stories And Survives

A Washington State University student fell out of a dorm room window on the 11th story and survived, the Daily Evergreen reports.

The university said the fall occurred Wednesday night, and police found the 22-year-old male conscious, alert and talking. He did sustain external injuries and was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, according to the Associated Press.

WSU told reporters that neither alcohol nor foul play are suspected and that trees near the building slowed his fall.

University spokesman Darin Watkins told the Spokane Spokesman-Review the result was surprising.

"It's almost miraculous he's alive, and we're really hoping for the best," he said.

Campus radio station KQQQ notes that three other students have fallen at WSU and at the University of Idaho so far this school year.
