Is the feud between "American Idol" judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey just for publicity?

Cee Lo Green, one of the coaches/judges on NBC's "The Voice," hinted to TMZ that he thinks it may be fake. "This is Hollywood, California. Hardly anything's legit," he said.

"The producers know that the show needs PR to make it must-see TV again and this won't be the first or the last leak," one "Idol" expert told HuffPost.

Minaj reportedly threatened to "knock out" Carey at the North Carolina auditions and in a video obtained by TMZ, Minaj curses the pop star out, saying, "I told them, I'm not f---in' putting up with her f---ing highness over there," Minaj says. "Figure it the f--- out. Figure it out."

On "The View" the following day, Barbara Walters, who had spoken with Carey, discussed the fight and Walters claimed Minaj said,"If I had a gun, I would shoot the b----."

An enraged Minaj took to Twitter, saying, "Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she's a black rapper ... Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho."

"The Voice" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and American Idol" returns to Fox in 2013.
