'Parks And Recreation' And The New York Soda Ban (VIDEO)

WATCH: New York Soda Ban On 'Parks And Rec'

The hoopla surrounding New York City's ban on large sugary drinks may have died down a bit, but the obesity conversation seems to have inspired television's favorite politician Leslie Knope to take on Pawnee's public health issues.

On Thursday's new episode of "Parks and Recreation," Knope (Amy Poehler) and BFF Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones) sit down with a representative from a local restaurant association.

What ensues is a hilarious spin on New York's real life restrictions. An NBC statement commented on the clip, "This storyline manages to smartly and amusingly present both sides of this argument – the fight against obesity and diabetes in this country vs. personal freedom.”

All of this just makes us wonder if Leslie Knope wouldn't be a great candidate for the mayor of New York City? Knope 2013!
