If your piano or keyboard keys are looking a little dirty from one too many renditions of Beethoven’s Moolight Sonata, it’s probably time to give them a good wash. Our friends over at Real Simple found an easy way to clean piano keys with something you should already have in your home.

Simply wet a Q-Tip and place a drop of toothpaste on it. Then, rub each key individually with the paste. Finally, wipe they surface dry and buff with a cloth. Be sure you remove all the solution from the keys to avoid a sticky situation.

We knew toothpaste was great for a lot of things but who knew you could use it to clean a piano? This tip is simple, easy and essentially free (if you’ve already got the cleaner in your home -- which we hope you do!)
