How Etsy Shop 'USB Typewriter' Restores Antique Machines For Modern Day Use (VIDEO)

Are Typewriters Making A Comeback?

Every time a newer and better form of technology comes out, we tend to assume the old ones are no longer useful. It's too easy to just drop our old phones and computers to upgrade to faster, more advanced versions. One abandoned gadget, which we've pushed aside, is the typewriter. When personal computers with fancy bells and whistles were invented, we no longer had a use for this machine. But Jack Zyklin, owner of Etsy shop USB Typewriter, is hoping to change that. Zyklin restores old typewriters and makes them USB-enabled, allowing them to connect to desktop computers, laptops and even the iPad. By adapting this antique for use with modern technologies, Zyklin hopes to stop the typewriter from becoming obsolete and give others the chance to experience and re-cultivate a historic form of writing. Check out the video above to learn how Zyklin creates these typewriters and why it's so important to him.
