What This Basketball Player's Wife Wore to New York Fashion Week

I love the energy of New York Fashion Week. I love the people and eclectic style fashion week brings. I love to play dress-up, but then again, what girl doesn't?

It finally comes to an end; oh how I will miss you Fashion Week. But, we will meet again.

Although fashion is my passion, it is arduous to keep up appearances. For my first event of New York Fashion Week (at Fashion Palette NYC) I sat in my closet pondering what I could wear. One of my friends had to come over (girl time!) to help me choose. We decided that prints are always a winner, and I wore a pair of A.L.C.'s navy paisley pants. I didn't want to look to contrived so I threw on a simple black A.L.C. top with a pair of nude Louboutin heels. And, you can never go wrong with a CC bag. My Chanel clutch, a.k.a. Carina, goes everywhere with me. She is perfect for any occasion.

When I finally got to the event, I thought all of the designer's collections were phenomenal. But, I had no idea that it would be so long. It was, however, worth every minute. I sat next to Ms. Kristin Chenoweth, perfect for a little humor! When it comes to personality, she's an ace. The next night, along with many others, I hosted an event for Fashion's Night Out. To jazz things up a bit, I wore a black 3.1 Phillip Lim jumper with pink Manolos and a great pair of Judith Ripka earrings. It's a combination that never fails -- I always feel like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City, when I wear my Manolo Blahnik heels.

Following my "Carrie" night was my St. John morning. The presentation was early, so I kept my look day-time chic. I paired a two tone color 3.1 Phillip Lim pants with a silk Equipment top and kept the make-up light and fresh, but added a pop of color on the lips. My brown Louboutin heels were perfection for a sophisticated look. I just so happen to have these Hermes bangles that appeared to be made specifically for the colors I was wearing. It was like the fashion fairy herself hand delivered them to me! After St. John I had two more shows to attend, and I wanted to play fashion diva for the day, so I decided to change my look three times. It's always fun to play dress-up! My second look was more edgy -- my hair looked very Alexander McQueen, I wore a pair of gunmetal BCBG Max Azria leggings that had cool zipper detailing on the back, an army green loose button-down and a pair of black Louboutin booties. (Obviously Christian Louboutins are my go-tos.) My next look for the day was more casual hip. I wore a pair of black J Brand jeans and a cool knit Charlotte Ronson vest. I paired this look with a pair of funky fringed out brown boots. I kept my make-up pretty much the same all day, but changed my lip from light to dark as the day went on.

The next show I attended was Oscar de la Renta. His show is always a gem, so I wanted to keep it classy. I wore no make-up, tousled hair, a simple yet sexy black L'Agence jumper, and my nude Louboutins. The jumper was cut low in the front, so I wrapped a multi colored scarf around my neck. (I am a mother of two after all! I don't like to wear anything I wouldn't feel comfortable picking my son up from school in.)

For my final show of the week, I kept it "downtown chic." I wore two-toned jeans with Chloe wedge sneakers, a Theory sweater and a classic black Chanel bag.

All in all, fashion week was fun. Fashion is my jam, but it's also what you make it. Fashion to me is personal style, trends, and feelings. Its not always about what brand you wear, its how you wear it and how it makes you feel. I love the energy of New York Fashion Week. I love the people and eclectic style fashion week brings. I love to play dress-up, but then again, what girl doesn't?
