Ann Romney Marriage: GOP Presidential Candidate's Wife Says Her Marriage Isn't A 'Storybook Marriage'

Would Their 'Real Marriage' Make You Vote For Romney?

At the Republic National Convention on Tuesday night, Ann Romney attempted to showcase a softer side of her husband, Mitt.

She spoke of her "real" marriage:

I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a 'storybook marriage.' Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or Breast Cancer. A storybook marriage? No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage.

Ann talked about when she and Mitt first tied the knot 42 years ago while still in college -- living in a basement apartment, having their first son when she was 22, and eating "a lot of pasta and tuna fish" -- to illustrate how she defines her "real marriage."
