Boehner: At Least My Name Isn't 'Weiner'

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) took a dig at ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday, using him as the butt of a joke about funny last names.

"People have trouble with my name. Is it Bainer? Bonner? Boner?" he told a crowd of New York and Puerto Rico delegates gathered for a breakfast speech as part of the Republican National Convention, according to the New York Post.

"At least it's not Weiner!" Boehner exclaimed, drawing a loud round of applause. He's used the line before.

Weiner was forced to resign from Congress in 2011, after admitting to sending lewd photos and messages to a number of women he had contacted on the internet.

Before his political downfall, however, Weiner was happy to poke fun both at himself and Boehner for their names. At the Congressional Correspondents Dinner in 2011, Weiner took aim at Boehner, telling the speaker to "embrace" his last name and suggesting that his pronunciation of "Boehner" wasn't "fooling anyone."
