Craft Room Ideas: How To Design And Organize A Creative Space (VIDEO)

Do You Wish You Had A Craft Room?

Editor's Note: This article contains advice that worked for one homeowner. Your home decor preferences and floor plan layout may vary.

Whether you already have a craft room or you have an extra space you'd like to turn into one, having a creative area is a great way to express yourself. Organizing the room is essential to keep track of all the materials that go into creating and DIY-ing. In this simple makeover video, organizing expert Stacey Platt of DwellWell NYC, a lifestyle organizing firm, shows us simple ways to straighten up your supplies and set up a proper space for crafting.

Some of Stacey's most helpful tips? Choose a work station (a simple square table will do) and place it in the middle of the room. This position allows easy access to the artwork no matter where the crafter is in the room. Platt also recommends putting crafting supplies in containers that were meant for other small items. For example, placing beads or buttons in clear spice receptacles allow the supplies to be neat and visible, plus your pretty and colorful necessities will be on display. Who says that decor can't also be functional?
