Love and marriage are on the brain thanks to Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones' latest film "Hope Springs." Streep and Jones play a long-married couple looking to liven up their marriage by seeking help from a love guru played by Steve Carell. Actress Jean Smart was also involved in the film, playing a friend of Streep. The actress recently sat down with the ladies of "The Talk" to dish on Streep and her own quarter-century marriage.
When asked what it was like working with Streep for the first time, Smart beamed about the legendary actress, saying that she learned a thing or two from sharing the big screen with her.
"She’s very prepared," said Smart. "I actually realized after watching her -- because she is so prepared she would never falter for a second or call for a line or anything -- is that that's actually what gives you the freedom -- to do what you're supposed to be doing."
The co-hosts then asked Smart about her own marriage. Smart recently celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary, and revealed the simple secret behind what makes it work. Though the mother of two lamented that she and her husband couldn't travel abroad for the big 2-5, she revealed their hilarious alternate plan to celebrate, and how it panned out.
