Home Office Decor That's Pretty And Practical, And Fits Right Into The...Kitchen? (VIDEO)

Why Your Kitchen Needs...An Office?

Editor's Note: This article contains advice that worked for one homeowner. Your home decor preferences and floor plan layout may vary.

For many of us, the kitchen is the command center of our home. Although, we don't just use the space for cooking and eating. Having a desk or small office space in this room to use for tackling to-do lists (or homework) is becoming more and more common for families. But if your workspace is quickly becoming cluttered with papers, binders and recipes, there are easy ways to organize it. In this simple makeover video, cleaning expert Sarah Hayon of DwellWell NYC, a lifestyle organizational firm, shows us simple ways to clean up a kitchen office.

Some of Sarah's most helpful tips? Only store the things you absolutely need at your fingertips. (This may mean getting rid of an excessive amount of pens or pads that are taking up space.) Putting these items neatly in drawers will make them more accessible and declutter your surface. Hayon also recommends placing loose papers and kitchen odds-and-ends in boxes and containers for a cohesive and neat look. Who says that home office decor can't also be practical?
