When former Microsoft executive Jeff Sanderson and his wife Lara decided to revamp their Mercer Island, Washington home, they didn't just want an interior designer, they wanted an artist. In fact, they specifically requested none other than Kelly Wearstler to design their decadent and eccentric abode, which is featured in the September issue of Elle Decor, on stands August 7.
Wearstler, who has been dubbed "the grande dame of West Coast interior design," created a residence of natural wonder and intellect. She filled the fantasy-like salon with impressive art pieces, the library with floor-to-ceiling books neatly, and the music room with pages of works scribbled by Beethoven.
We're particularly keen on the main bathroom, which is covered in onyx fantastico walling and marble and onyx floors. Those details, along with the vintage sconces, make this room the most stand-out space in the entire dwelling.
Looking at this home, it is apparent that Wearstler strives to be creative and stimulating with her designs. And with the perfect combination of client input and Wearstler's free-spirit, this is easily achieved.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article stated that the couple's last name was Sanders. It is in fact Sanderson.
