Sono Wood Fired's Chef John McLean Raves About Seasonal, Local Ingredients (VIDEO)

WATCH: Sono Wood Fire Chef On The Key To Pizza Bliss

Chef John McLean was inspired on a trip to Italy to bring fresh, elegantly simple thin crust pizzas to Chicago's venerated pizza scene.

After over 25 years as Chef d'Cuisine of Levy Restaurants, where he helped Levy earn several acclaimed awards, he branched out and founded Sono Wood Fired, a pizza-centric Italian gem in Lincoln Park where he not only oversees the kitchen, but works with local farms to help produce his own ingredients.

"I'm a chef that loves big bold flavors, bright, fresh ingredients, let's let the ingredients stand on their own and let them sing," McLean told Chat Chow TV's Candyce Paraggua.
