A Massachusetts woman was arrested Monday and charged with stalking Theo Epstein near the Chicago Cubs president's home in the city's Lakeview neighborhood.
Kathleen Kearney, 44, of Canton, Mass., was taken into custody Monday evening and charged with two felony counts of stalking, NBC Chicago reports. She was arrested in the 1400 block of West Addison Street, two blocks from where Epstein lives with his family.
In court Tuesday, Kearney was ordered held on $75,000 bail, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
According to the paper, Kearney visited Epstein's wife, Marie Epstein, at their home early Tuesday and brought a a backpack and a birthday banner as a gift for the couple's son. It is then that Marie alerted the authorities.
Kearney told police that she had been watching the Cubs president's 7,800-square-foot, five-bedroom home and was "inviting Mr. Epstein to go to church," the Chicago Tribune reports.
Kearney reportedly had previous contact with Epstein while he was a general manager for the Boston Red Sox.
Epstein signed a five-year contract with the Cubs last October and shortly thereafter purchased the Lakeview home for $3.25 million.
