Lokesh Simon James: Bliss Cabaret Strip Club Overcharged Me $50,000

Florida Man Contests Strip Club's $50,000 Charge

Vague terror nearly always follows the question: "How much did I spend last night?" Typically, a quick glance at receipts, online bank accounts and cash-starved wallets is enough to reassure even the biggest partiers that they may have busted their budgets the previous night but didn't go broke in the process.

So just imagine Lokesh Simon James's morning-after when he realized that he'd been charged $50,000 after spending a couple of hours at Bliss Cabaret, a strip club in Tampa, Florida. James admits to spending $600 on tips, dances, and drinks -- an already hefty sum -- but claims the rest is impossible, reports NBC5.

He's filed a lawsuit against the club and a former bartender there demanding that the excess charges be returned (plus interest) in addition to covering his court and lawyer fees. "There's no way to spend that kind of money," James' attorney, David Sockol, told the Tampa Bay Tribune. "How many dances would it take before you run up $50,000 at $20 a dance?''

James initially approached his credit card company, Bank of America, to contest the charges, reports CBS Tampa. Officials there told him that, since he was present at Bliss Cabaret when the charges were made, he'd have to take it up with the club.

This isn't the first time a Florida strip club patron has been outraged over an outlandish tab. In 2011, a Miami attorney filed suit over $18,930 worth of charges incurred at the Goldrush strip club downtown. That case has yet to be resolved.
